Barb was raised Catholic, the oldest of six, in suburban New York. Mother Teresa, the commencement speaker at her Iona College graduation advised the audience to "Use your life to uplift others." Two months later, she left a banking job on Wall Street to teach 40 second graders in The Bronx, NY.
At 30, a married, mom of two (9 months & 5yrs), and full time 1st grade teacher, she ignored persistent headaches and triple vision, postponing medical appointments until the end of the school year. But in late June, she lay prone on a gurney in a hospital Emergency Room under the care of a Yale neurologist.
Unable to speak, paralyzed on her left side with pain throbbing in her right eye, she had no idea that she'd test positive for leukemia from blood tests taken upon arrival. The neurologist administered steroids to manage brain swelling, but diagnostic tests were taken without medication for pain. She prayed, "God help me" and surrendered, to a Higher Power.
Instantly, she became an observer, viewing her ailing form from above. She noticed the doctor's name embroidered in red thread on his crisp white lab coat and took in the surroundings. Totally free of worldly experiences, including, pain, she lingered in that state until asked if she wanted to enter the body. She did so and was present in the body during diagnostic testing.
Within 24 hours she spoke words slowly and understood language, A bone marrow transplant, scheduled for Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, was canceled ten days later. The medical team offered no scientific answer as to what restored her body and speech to full recovery.
It took two years of physical therapy and modified work schedule before she resumed full time teaching of elementary students by day, and graduate teacher candidates at Manhattanville College in the evenings.
During a cultural exchange program in Arizona with graduate students, she arrived in a left knee immobilizer after a fall while presenting at a conference in Seattle. Karen S., a Native American elder from the Pima-Maricopa tribe suggested that Creator was guiding her to make life changes that she was resisting.
"Left side is the past and knee enables the body to move forward."
She never heard of automatic writing or the term "walk-in," yet was guided to scribe messages that filled several journals. She shared these with her mom, medical doctor sister, and a few friends.

Aware that her life purpose and trajectory were Divinely redefined, she relocated to Arizona, worked as a university teacher educator across under-resourced communities, earned a doctoral degree from Arizona State University, scribed a book she was directed to self-publish entitled, Live The Message (2005) and prioritized her tenured university professor work, which eventually included an unexpected 5 month duty post with undergraduates in Siena, Italy.
Dr. Veltri authored an award-winning book, peer-reviewed journal articles, and presented research at academic conferences in Athens, Atlanta, Baltimore, Budapest, Copenhagen, Delhi, Naples, Nashville, New York City, Orlando, Patras (Greece), Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, and Washington, D.C. over her twenty-five year academic career across four universities. Her research, presentations and publications impacted children, teachers, and audiences of national and global education policy makers.
She tucked away dictations received 15 years ago that stated, 'the time for teaching teachers has come to pass; you will soon share Spirit's teachings.' She resisted taking a leap of faith, while working as a professor, yet found a Spiritual home at The Unity Church of Phoenix and presented a ticketed two-session workshop entitled, "How God Gets Your Attention" twelve years ago.
During the pandemic summer of 2020, the workshop hand-outs just happened to fall from a bookcase and land in front of her. At the same time, a license plate that read, "QTTWWRK (Quit Work) enclosed in a frame with the words, "ANGELS are watching over me," appeared regularly as she drove to do errands. Friends affirmed, "It's a sign." She retired In July 2021 after completing the 2020-2021 academic year.
The Messages © 2024 is a collection of scribed dictations by J (Jesus/Jeshua) from 2020-2023 directed for publication and dissemination across visual and auditory formats. It will be available on Amazon in late May 2024.
She is editing two completed manuscripts:
When God Gets Your Attention: Spirit's 7 Signals That Change Your Life, and
